This timely and informative presentation will provide an overview of the demographics of the I/DD field and future trends as it relates to the growing number of older adults being served. The presenter will review interdisciplinary theories and explain their practical application. Tips for resolving aging-related issues and challenges in the field will also be provided.

Target audience: Program directors and/or DSPs

About the Trainer: Caitlin E. Coyle, PhD is research fellow and assistant professor of gerontology at the University of Massachusetts-Boston where she conducts applied research on the topics of social isolation and aging with lifelong disability. Dr. Coyle earned her doctorate in gerontology from UMass Boston and completed postdoctoral training at the Yale School of Public Health. She has extensive experience working as a research partner to community based organizations. Her work informs planning, development, and improvement to the services and supports being provided to older adults and people with disabilities. Currently, Dr. Coyle’s work supports cities and towns in New England as they consider ways to build more inclusive communities.
