Activities Specialist

** $2,000 New Hire Sign- On Bonus**

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am- 4pm

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an advocate and protect the rights and interests of people served.
  • Provide opportunities for the people served by organizing, developing and implementing individual and/or group activities which are socially enriching in the community.
  • Participate alongside the people served in various community activities (recreational activities, volunteering, educational classes)
  • Assist people served to identify and make choices for activities that are oriented toward their ISP goals and objectives.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings and trainings as required.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and current programmatic documentation as required.
  • Participate as a member of the Individual Service Plan (ISP) team by advocating for the needs of the person served, and attending treatment team meetings as needed.
  • Assist with the daily needs for people served.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years of direct care experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a culturally diverse population of individuals, co-workers, care providers, family, community members and others.
  • Ability to write clear, concise and accurate documentation.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
  • Current First Aid, CPR and Crisis Intervention certificates or be able to obtain these within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Pass criminal background check (CORI) and National Fingerprint Background Check.
