Position Title: Day Service Coordinator Reports To: Vice President of New Way

Program/Division: The Resource Center, New Way Approval Date: October 2021

Job Summary

Responsible for the management and oversight of MHA’s The Resource Center, a day service for survivors of acquired brain injury or other major medical need. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and implementation of programs, activities, and events of the program. The Coordinator will hold a high standard of confidentiality, advocacy and promote a positive team approach. Ensure management of center is in accordance with leadership objectives, organizational mission, policies, practices, program funding, applicable regulatory agency guidelines while promoting the delivery of high quality services.

Position’s Essential Functions

1. Promote and integrate agency mission, core values, philosophy and principles.

2. Directly work with staff, supervisors and leadership to provide high quality programming that will have a direct positive impact on participant wellness

3. Have a clear understanding of Trauma Informed Care and Person Centered approaches and integrate within programs accordingly.

4. Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of the community center/day supports. Oversee programs, activities, and events.

5. Identify and recruit volunteers to conduct classes or groups that focus on areas such as employment training, creative expression, health and wellness, literacy, cooking and nutrition, etc.

6. Identify and address the social and recreational needs of the community served with the assistance and participation of the members and staff.

7. Supervise interns from across a wide range of programs to bring a robust variety of services to the members who attend TRC

8. Create and manage communications through social media, newsletters, calendars, emails, etc.

9. Act as liaison to agencies/service providers in the area for the purpose of bringing programs and services to the center. Involve key community members and leaders.

10. Identify the needs of the center, program development needs and actively recruit and maintain vendors

11. Monitor expenditures and adhere to established program budget to ensure fiscal responsibility. Participate in fundraising efforts for the center, including assisting with grant writing, and implement any grant-funded programs accordingly.

12. Monitor goals, timelines and allocate resources. Monitor and evaluate the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of community center/ day supports programming. Keep records for outcome measures as needed.

13. Maintain records and develop reports concerning new or ongoing programs

14. Monitor and inspect center; schedule maintenance and ensure facility security.

15. Work with identified support committee and various divisions to engage participants. Attend division team meetings and management meetings as needed.

16. Oversee daily operations of the facility including training and evaluation of personnel alongside the Site Manager

17. Investigate and resolve complaints or inquiries from the people we work with and/or staff; deal with confrontational disagreements and seek out assistance when necessary.

18. Provide administrative support by answering questions, maintain correspondence with other agencies and vendors

19. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • Or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years working with disadvantaged populations with 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with day service and activity programming strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with people impacted by brain injury, psychiatric diagnosis, developmental disabilities, trauma, substance abuse and/or homelessness required.
  • Effective Communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral, written, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative, follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to demonstrate the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the program participants.
  • Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, acceptable driving record, and a safe reliable vehicle during working hours.
  • Ability to maintain all core competency and required training.

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, type, write, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, climb stairs and lift up to forty pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include color distinction, visual inspection, visual perception, and eye/hand coordination.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to inclement weather and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The majority of time for this job is spent indoors.
