Your Role Overview

The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod is looking for people with great energy, hobbies, connections in the community and the ability to share their talents with adults with acquired brain injury.

We are looking to hire outstanding Direct Support Professionals from Plymouth and surrounding towns who will help support persons with acquired brain injury to find happiness in their own homes, in their personal relationships, and as contributing members of their community. We have locations in: Marshfield, Lakeville, Wareham, and Sandwich.

Due to our continued growth, we are seeking full-time, part-time, and relief Direct Support Professional staff.

We are looking to fill day (7am to 3pm), evening (3pm to 11pm), and overnight (11pm to 7am) shifts. Working some holidays and an every-other weekend rotation is required.

Your Responsibilities

Our amazing team of Direct Support Professionals support people with acquired brain injuries to live as independently as possible, while attaining the assistance they need to access all of what their community has to offer.

You will do things like:

  • Establish positive, professional, and supportive working relationships with the individuals living in the home.
  • Support community access by providing transportation, reviewing/accessing community events, and other support to aid with independent living.
  • Provide companionship, assistance with personal care, functional mobility, and/or life skill coaching to reinforce independent living.
  • Assist in light household tasks such as meal preparation, laundry & shopping.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to The Arc’s mission - to empower and support people with disabilities and their families to belong, contribute, and thrive.
  • Comfort developing positive working relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Comfort utilizing technology to complete reports and communicate with staff.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (Training will be provided)
  • MAP certified (Training will be provided)
  • Availability to attend required 3-day orientation (Details will be provided – some trainings may be virtual due to COVID-19)

Physical Effort

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, sit, reach, and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or the use of two-person lift.
