Director of Residential Services - Walnut Street Center - Medford, MA

Walnut Street Center's Residential Program is looking for an experienced Director of Residential Services to join our growing team.

Summary:

Oversee all aspects of the Residential Supports Department. Ensure individuals receive quality support services to aid them in achieving their full potential, while keeping with the Agency’s mission and philosophy. This position oversees 17 residential homes.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensures that department staff are upholding the human rights and properly advocating for all individuals within the program.
  • Ensures that the department staff is meeting the health and safety needs of all individuals.
  • Oversees short and long term program planning and development for the department, including but not limited to: strategic planning, goal setting, project research and implementation and monitoring, staff development, quality assurance, relationship cultivation, resource allocation, public relations.
  • Oversees the implementation and planning of management and administrative systems.
  • Ensures that the department is achieving goals set by Q.U.E.S.T., the Department of Developmental Services, department goals and objectives and by the Agency’s mission statement and strategic plan.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Department of Developmental Services, family members, guardiansand other stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Medical Supports to ensure the health and well-being of all individuals.
  • Oversees the implementation of Personnel Policies for the department.
  • Monitors the timely and accurate response to all required reporting authorities.
  • Provides supervision to Residential Coordinators and other staff as assigned.
  • Prepares and monitors the department budget and approves expenditures as defined by agency policy.
  • Prepares and monitors department contracts and proposals.
  • Oversees intra-Agency investigations involving possible human rights violations and serves as the Agency contact for outside investigations of a similar nature as needed.
  • Serves as an active member of the Agency’s Administrative Team and project committees.
  • Provides on-call emergency through the use of a pager or cell phone.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Committed to helping individuals with developmental disabilities achieve their maximum potential.
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience directing family, residential or related services for adults with developmental disabilities, or four years of experience directing family, residential or related services.
  • Familiarity with Department of Developmental Services regulations, Home and Home Life Principles, Q.U.E.S.T. and other licensing procedures preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong fiscal, strategic planning and supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in organization and time management.
  • Ability to lead teams and integrate inter-departmental outcomes.
  • Ability to innovate, manage change, negotiate and problem solve.
  • Ability to structure multiple tasks.
  • Ensure timely completion initial and recurrent training of departmental staff.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office or similar applications.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in the event of an emergency.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Willingness and ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
