Position Overview:

A Group Employment Specialist is responsible for supervision of employment services program participants as they work various employment opportunities

To thrive in this position a candidate must have interpersonal skills that allow them to effectively teach and guide individuals to succeed in employment settings. This candidate should also have organizational skills that will allow them to communicate scheduling changes, oversee in collaboration with the fiscal department the financial and billing procedures for our company run businesses, and facilitate individual’s schedules giving them opportunities to reach their employment goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Teach group employment job skills related to each person’s unique job interests.
  • Identify, utilize and, if necessary, create materials and resources (i.e. print, electronic, internet) to teach job skills.
  • Instill and maintain positive attitudes, motivation, morale, patience, and discipline throughout the job seeking and job placement process.
  • Provide on the job training to include 1:1 job coaching and backup job coaching, as needed.
  • Actively work as a Job Coach; either by overseeing a crew placement or a competitive placement.
  • Provide consumer satisfaction; regularly seeking feedback and input from persons served.
  • Act as a liaison between those served, employers, family members, consultants, and other agencies. Conduct periodic visits to employment sites to conduct status checks; intervene and assist in crisis situations, as needed.
  • Keep accurate and up to date records, data, and progress reports for assigned job seekers.
  • Assist Lawn Care Services supervisor with seasonal duties including mowing, weed whacking, raking, trash removal, etc.
  • Supervise individuals doing various cleaning jobs around the facility.
  • Supervise individuals in group employment opportunities on site or off site including any future contracted work sites.
  • Supervise individuals in the redemption center at the facility including completing time sheets for payroll, recording daily attendance, and any other day to day operations in the redemption center.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and report any hazards, injuries, or violations immediately.
  • Attend and participate in employee meetings, trainings, and development, as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.
  • Computer literate, preferable in Microsoft Office for documentation and recordkeeping skills.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot computer issues.
  • Must have the ability to learn and comprehend new computer programs.

The qualified candidate must complete a satisfactory background check, including CORI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Open to change and ability to work collaboratively
  • Clear communication skills
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and autism.
  • Previous experience working for a not-for profit and/or health and human services organization
