THE JOB

The Human Resources Generalist will report to The Vice President of Human Resources and serve as a trusted HR advisor to Program Managers and Division Directors. This person will support the overall work of the HR team by executing and delivering on a range of key responsibilities including human resources, benefits management, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you'll be team-oriented, comfortable working independently, and adept at navigating a fast-paced environment where you're asked to wear multiple hats at once. You will deploy HR technical knowledge, analytical ability, systems thinking, and process improvement techniques to help drive organizational development in support of The Arc of Opportunity’s programming.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Administration

Help identify common themes and trends from communications with staff that indicate a need for clarity, training, or HR communications; then help build said training and communications content in partnership with the Vice President of Human Resources.

Document, update, and help improve HR processes to better serve the needs of the organization.

Support accurate and comprehensive documentation, including the preparation of letters/memos, file audits, complete benefits document submissions, follow-up actions to obtain documentation needed, E-Verify resolution, and more

Handle employee records and information in a sensitive and secure manner; help uphold guidelines for access to confidential data and appropriately respond to requests re: personnel files

Ensure employee onboarding and exit interviews are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Support the timely processing of employee changes via the HRIS by ensuring appropriate supporting documentation has been created/received, and submitted to support the change

Familiarize staff members with HR policies, information, and processes via info sessions, email communications, etc.

Help train and provide support to key stakeholder groups on the hiring processes and guidelines

Assist with the creation of basic forms and documents in support of HR processes

Partner with the Safety Committee to identify injury trends, reduce risk, and maintain OSHA report logs and process workers comp claims

Project Management & Support

Support organizational development efforts, serving as project lead and driving project to completion, as needed

Support agency wide HR priorities providing technical and analytical support

Suggest process improvements and propose projects that will support continuous improvement of HR operating procedures and services to staff

Communicate effectively with key stakeholders and seek feedback on a regular basis to ensure HR partnership is always evolving/improving

Employee Benefits

Provide timely and high-quality support to both internal and external requestors regarding The Arc of Opportunity’s benefits programs

Help guide employees on how to properly select and submit benefits selections in HRIS and vendor system, connecting employees to external resources, as appropriate

Liaise with benefits broker to connect employees to resources, to resolve escalated cases, and to help implement new vendor platforms or resources, as needed

Help create and coordinate benefits resources for staff members, such as trainings, info sessions or FAQs

Support the annual Open Enrollment process for benefit plans

Ensure that all benefits plan materials are posted on The Arc of Opportunity’s intranet and maintained in other relevant resources

WHAT YOU BRING

Two to Five years successful HR Generalist experience

HRCI certification or SHRM Human Resources Certification is a plus

Strong working knowledge with Federal, State and Local employment laws

Experience with HRIS database systems (such as ADP) preferred

Discretion to handle confidential information

Customer service mentality and solution focused mentality

Strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and analytical abilities

Ability to present facts and recommendations in oral and written form

Ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects at one time

Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and lower up to 50 pounds, kneel, bend, and sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting.

Ability to work for extended periods sitting and looking at computer while completing repetitive motions to include substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; reviewing detailed information; viewing a computer monitor; and extensive reading.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Mathematical aptitude for budgetary, funding, cost/benefit analysis and general business purposes

Ability to convey clear directions, desired results, and vision to recruits, community partners, peers, and senior management

Functional and situational reasoning to follow policy, problem solve, exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage crisis.
