Janitorial Services Lead - Cape Abilities - Hyannis, MA

GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Perform specific procedures and duties to assist in ensuring a neat and clean appearance throughout the Agency, and to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Supervises and trains individuals with disabilities on light maintenance tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Supervises daily, weekly, and monthly janitorial tasks.
  • Sweep, mop, and wash floors, and other surfaces (inside buildings).
  • Use light and heavy (commercial type) floor (buffers).
  • Vacuum rugs/floor in offices and public areas. Spot clean daily and shampoo when needed. Clean and dust furniture, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and all other horizontal surfaces including periodic high dusting.
  • Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily following Agency bathroom cleaning procedures. Monitors possible defects such as clogged urinals and toilets.
  • Collect building trash daily placing it in approved container and place in designated collection area for subsequent removal. Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specs.
  • Cleans inside and outside windows, when needed.
  • Provides all other janitorial cleaning as necessary.
  • Provides hands on training to program participant staff.
  • Ensures proper level of quality control for assigned location.
  • Coordinate’s communications including, but not limited to, safety concerns, individual participant issues, and schedules between contract staff and vocational department.
  • Serves as mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC).

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma.
  • Prior experience in janitorial/maintenance field.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) mandated position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Supervises janitorial and program participant staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending and twisting.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to operate sharp instruments/tools.
  • Exposure to the elements.
