Program Director (Brain Injury Community Center) - Vinfen - Somerville

The Brain Injury Community Center Program Director over sees the clinical, financial and administrative operations of a Community Center. The Program Director plans, develops, and operationalizes practice standards as set forth by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission and the ABI Waiver. In addition the Program Director supervises Community Center Staff and models how to work side by side with members, honoring each person's strengths and talents. The Program Director promotes the membership's progress in their Action Plan goals and contribution to the Community Center's operation. and works to anticipate and positively react to operational and administrative issues from members and community constituents.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the implementation of all Community Center service components and standards.
  • Directs and manages the activities of Community Center staff. Hires staff appropriate to the available position(s). Deploys staff appropriately with the goal of optimizing effort and achieving the Community Center's community, operational and financial goals.
  • Manages staff performance. Provides direction, training, and coaching; conducts performance planning and review sessions; provides guidance on career development. Responsible for counseling and corrective action processes as necessary. Provides staff with new and updated policies and guidance.
  • Ensures that the intake of prospective Community Center members is completed in a timely, professional manner; arranges and performs intake procedures.
  • Provides supervision and direction to program staff regarding Action Plans and interventions, including rehabilitative strategies and techniques. Assists staff in completing comprehensive assessment for persons served. Forwards collaborations with other service providers and members' involved others to share information regarding assessment, Action Plans and interventions.
  • Leads efforts to promote and strengthen members' ability and willingness to determine Community Center policies, activities, structure, and planning for the future.
  • Provides outreach and create environments in which family, friends, and relationships between members will be fostered and strengthened.
  • Fosters teamwork and member leadership within Community Center. Promote "Community Center Culture" through formulating policies and procedures with members and staff that adhere to Community Center program standards.
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

Schedule:

Mon - Fri, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

***All staff rotate holidays and Saturday shifts 10 AM - 3 PM

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in psychology, rehabilitation, or other related field required. Four years' experience working with people who have had an acquired brain injury. Additional experience with either brain injured population or Clubhouse operations may substitute for graduate education.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in progressively responsible human services functions, of which a minimum of two years must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Prior experience or knowledge of greatly preferred pertaining to brain injury as well as available related equipment, therapies, and service providers.
  • Ability to train, model, and work side by side with members in both job and living skill situations in a community environment.
  • Knowledge or prior experience working with funding sources.
  • Prior experience or knowledge of financial management practices in human service organizations.
  • Knowledge of available equipment, therapies, and service providers.
  • First Aid and CPR required within two weeks of hire. Crisis Prevention and Staff Safety (CPSS) required according to mandated guidelines. Certification trainings are provided upon hire.
  • Must be willing to obtain CBIS certification (Certified Brain Injury Specialist).
