Overview

The Psychiatrist provides direct clinical services to patients served by Advocates, evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions, collaboratively developing and implementing treatment plans, prescribing medication as appropriate, and monitoring and evaluating treatment progress.

Responsibilities

Provides medical, psychiatric, and medical-legal service and consultation to patients.

Provides teaching and consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Provides collaborative leadership in diagnosis, case formulation, treatment planning, and risk management.

Coordinates care with other medical specialists and institutions and communicates with family members and other agencies involved as needed.

Actively participates in the Quality Improvement process of the division.

Provide outpatient care to a diverse population, alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists, care managers, nurses, and peer and community supports.

Maintains all records in accordance with the policies and procedures.

Practices in general accordance with the treatment philosophy of Advocates.

Maintains open, collaborative and collegial relationships with other team members.

Attends and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings.

Provides on call-responsibilities, same day triage, and consultation to patients, team members, and other staff, as appropriate and needed.

Qualifications

MD or DO received from an accredited medical school.

Board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (candidates may be accepted if board eligible, if the candidate demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Medical Director comparable experience and competence).

Current, valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.

Maintains professional liability insurance coverage of a minimum of $1,000,000/$3,000,000.

Current, valid and unrestricted DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registrations.

Satisfactory report from the National Practitioner Data Bank
